The Weight of All the Beauty

“The Weight of All the Beauty” is a poetic documentary about the men of Põdra, an Estonian village between the sea and the forest. They were once vibrant and loving, their hearts full of beauty, but they also suffered from loneliness. Their only playmate was a bottle demon called Vodka Spirit. Villi, the sole survivor, tells the story of his four best friends and how they ended up being tricked by the Vodka Spirit. He takes us on a journey through the village, where his friends’ houses and the trees that protected them still stand tall, as if nothing ever happened. So, if everyone else is dead, how come Villi is still alive?
