The Beaches of Agnès

Returning to the beaches that defined her, Varda invents a new genre: self-portrait documentary. Agnès stages excerpts of her films using herself as the main character, recreating images and impressions from her adventurous life. Passionate and funny even at the ripe again of 80, she shares her beginnings as a stage photographer and Nouvelle Vague trailblazer, her life with Jacques Demy, her feminist outlook, her trips to Cuba, China and the USA, as well as her trajectory as an independent producer and mother.
