DECEMBER: I hear voices
- Shut Up Little Man!
- Her Master's Voice
“Shut Up Little Man!” is the chronicle of a cult legend. If you’ve never heard of it, it’s because you weren’t born in the cassette tape age, when this wondrous plastic shell – whether a boring black & white or a more interesting technicolor version – was the favorite accessory of the ’80s punker generation. That’s when two friends from Wisconsin decided to move to San Francisco to find some meaning in their tedious lives. What they encountered instead were the worst neighbors in the history or urban co-habitation: Peter a deranged alcoholic queen and Ray, a homophobic fatso, who for reasons of their own, had decided to live together, exchanging abuse day and night. Instead of moving out, they decided to start recording their daily spats, trading those homemade cassette tapes with their group of friends, until “Shut Up Little Man!”, Peter’s favorite insult, became America’s favorite meme, inspiring a wave of comic books, cartoons, stage plays and three separate film projects, without the odd couple ever finding out. Until their naughty neighbors, Mitchell and Eddie, decided to track them down and come clean!
