DISCUSSION: Gender equality in filmmaking
The under-representation of women in screen media is a global phenomenon that reaches far and wide. 2018 however has seen a tectonic shift in popular culture that has cast new light on women’s work – from the home all the way to Hollywood. After the screening of “Half the Picture”, a battle cry to women in film everywhere, representatives of two key organizations in Greece and the U.S. will lead a discussion on female-driven films and how to make them. Debra Zimmerman, the executive director of Women Make Films, based in New York, and Olga Malea, the president of newly-minted Women in Film and Television Greece, will share their experiences, compare their goals and talk about the future in no uncertain terms. This is their time.
The event is open to the public.
