Broken Orchestra

When the Philadelphia public school system began losing almost all the funding for its music-education programs in 2007, hundreds of instruments in need of repair were left for dead. This documentary short tells the story of the Symphony for a Broken Orchestra program, which collected hundreds of these instruments, fixed them, and returned them into the hands of the students – it tells the story of a community mobilising in respect of the arts.
