KIDS & DOCS: From Documentary to Animation

The Greek Film Archive and Exile Room present a festive film showcase for children between 5 and 15 years old, from December 26 to December 30, 2014, as well as January 2 & 3, 2015. The program is guaranteed to take little movie buffs and their adult companions on a journey from documentary all the way to animation, with lots of fun cross-genre stops in-between.

This unusual showcase features both shorts and feature films, blurring the lines between documentary and animation, and introducing younger audiences to a colorful new world where imagination meets reality and non-fiction is disguised as a fairy tale to better show you the world from a different perspective. All screenings and workshops will take place at the Greek Film Archive.

Workshop reservations will operate on a first come, first served basis. Book your spot by calling 210 3223394 between 11am and 3pm on workdays or e-mailing workshops.exile@gmail.com. Each workshop is a one-off event and each kid can only attend one. The maximum number of participants is 12 per day.

The purpose of this showcase is to encourage children to fall in love with cinema and to introduce them to the documentary genre by showing them just how versatile it is. This event also aims at cultivating new and creative collaborations with schools and other institutions that want to embrace audiovisual education, cultivating a new language of communication with elementary and high school students.
